I have started and restarted this site over and over the past 3 years and one thing or another got in the way. So if you have a minute, I will tell you all about it. You may remember this old site. I converted it to a new one in 2016 but never really stuck with it. Life got in the way. My Dad died, my Mom died and the love of my life died in October of 2017. Three funerals in three years is just so much.
At the beginning of 2017, I was running my own business, running the animal shelter in Edgewater and taking care of a fiance with cancer. In October of 2017, after Tom died, the animals saved me. The question I keep asking myself was what did I really want to do? What was I going to be when I grow up? I was increasingly unhappy with my business, I had a lot of clients but I didn’t love my work. I loved the shelter but I was stretched too thin. I loved my little blog and all the community interaction, but I had no time to make it happen. I wasn’t even really NSB Mom anymore, my kids were grown and gone. All of those big insecurities were sitting in my brain, telling me just to forget about it.
Fast forward to 2019, I knew it was time to get off my ass and make a change. I sat down with Misty Catheline (my co-NSB MOM) and we decided to get it rolling. You can meet Misty here. I fiddled around a few times but never really got rolling. I had made other changes, quit drinking wine, started eating healthy, took up paddleboarding. I dropped clients that were to longer pleasant to work with and made it possible to focus on what I wanted to do to make me happy. I was still trying to find the time to rebuild the site.
Enter Coronavirus. Suddenly everyone has time. So, I sat down this week, communicated virtually with Misty and off we go! I will do my best to keep the animal shelter afloat, work with a handful of clients that I genuinely like and want to serve, and now, I am going back to my original love. This little blog, promoting local business and telling people about the community we love. This site has never been about making money, it has been about providing a service and giving back. If we make enough to cover our costs, we will be happy. Oh, and it needs to be pretty. Pretty is important.
If you made it this far, welcome back. We have a lot of good things in store for you!
